First meet-up
Even though Simon Leather had two full pages of projects, there're only four of us under his supervision, all working on invertebrates - three are field-based and one involves meta-analysis. We laid down the plans, and talked just about enough about our projects to be able to fill up the OoP form. When we get to Silwood, Simon'll have weekly cookies + tea sessions during which he'll allocate us our tasks and check up on how we're doing.
There's a great possibility that our project reports will be published as a paper, says he, since we'll all be working on something which has not been done before. He's the editor/sits in the editorial board of half a dozen journals, so he'll know what to advise.
Now that the formalities for FYP are out of the way, I'll get back down to focusing on my other studies.
Entomologist Husky out. Unless there's something remarkably interesting that I can't not blog about.
