A lot of us are like that – I’m like that, Ed Abbey was like that, and it sounds like this McCandless kid was like that: We like companionship, see, but we can’t stand to be around people for very long. So we go get ourselves lost, come back for a while, then get the hell out again.
~ Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild (1996)
Getting the hell outta there can feel good, but so can the coming back bit, too.

Coming back can feel good when you find a purpose

“Coming back” is such a vague term. “Coming back” home? Returning to a place you once called home? Or just revisiting a place you have once been to? In any case, I’d be on the move again unless I’ve found a purpose in staying. To put it in one sweeping statement, that’s what one does when still looking for a purpose in life and still reluctant to “settle down”. Well, McCandless seemed to have found his answer. Have you?

Hmmm… btw, there’s a little EU flag next to my entry. But Switzerland isn’t really in the EU…

Odd, there’s a Swiss flag in the database, but it doesn’t use it. Maybe your internet provider’s hosted in an EU country?
