Just like the last time when I first visited the island with the Linsteadians three years ago, I had no luck yesterday with the elusive red squirrels. What we did manage to see were a great many ‘wild’ farm chickens, all plump and fluffy and strutting about the fields, some pheasants, and a man in a business suit strolling about the island (ie. Terry, who had a job interview in Dorset and came to meet us in Brownsea after his ordeal but before he had a chance to change into a more suitable attire).
It feels good visiting the birthplace of Scouting in its centenary year.
